Fern Lucille Kabelac

Fern L. Kabelac, 86, passed away on Jul 20, 2010. Born Nov 28, 1923 in Minneola, KS, Fern was the daughter of Bryce and Vera (Ward) Tedford. She graduated from Minneola High School in 1941, and worked as a commercial artist/cartoonist in Colorado Springs, CO. It was there that she met Ernest "Bus" Kabelac, whom she married in Port Orchard on Sep 27, 1946. They moved to Bremerton, where they raised 4 boys. In addition to her artistic ability, she was a beautiful seamstress and cake decorator. She was also a sports fan, and loved watching high school and college sports, along with the Mariners and Seahawks. Fern was an avid bowler for nearly 5 decades, and served 23 years on the Washington Women's Board of Directors for the Washington Bowling Association. She was a life member of the local chapter of the WBA and was in the Kitsap WBA Hall of Fame. Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Bryce and Vera Tedford, and a brother, Lynn Tedford. She is survived by sons, Jerry (Donna) of Belfair, Larry (Suzanne) of Poulsbo, Ron (Becki) of Port Orchard, and Rich (Terrill) of Federal Way; sisters, Pearl Tedford of Hutchinson, KS, and Faye Holt of Mountain Home, AR; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Fern will be held from 10 am - 5 pm on Fri, Jul 23, Sat, Jul 24, and Mon, Jul 26, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 5303 Kitsap Way, Bremerton. A memorial service will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel at 1 pm on Tues, Jul 27
