Stuart "Stu" Allan Barhan Obituary (1957

Stu, a resident of Bremerton, Washington, passed away on January 28, 2025, at the age of 67. Stu was born on July 22, 1957, in Barstow, CA to Florence "Randee" Randall (Mort) and Robert Walker Barhan. During his childhood, he traveled to many states due to his father's service in the US Marine Corps. In 1960, Stu's family settled in Washington state, where he later graduated from Bellingham High School in 1975. Stu followed a diverse career path involving various trades. He worked for the Navy Yard, relocating homes to Friday Harbor. Additionally, Stu worked as a tow truck driver and repo man for Bob's Auto Shop. One of his most fulfilling hobbies was working with the band "Villan" whom he met while in his recovery program and built a solid friendship with. He enjoyed many activities, but his passion for music stood out. Stu was an avid album collector, especially of vinyl records. His love for music brought joy to everyone he met. Some of his favorite albums included Black Sabbath, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground, Allman Brothers Band, Moody Blues, and Pink Floyd. When not traveling with the band, Stu loved sitting in the garage, sifting through records, and blasting music with his wife, his ride-or-die, his soulmate Kathy. Kathy Barhan, whom he met in 1985, became his wife on August 26, 1996, at Alder Lake, near Mt. Rainier. Together, Stu and Kathy had one child, Schuyler Barhan, who was born in 1993. Additionally, they raised three older sons from Kathy's previous marriage, making Stu a proud father of four children. Kathy was Stu's best friend, they did everything together, they enjoyed music, concerts, camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, spending time with lots of friends and family. One of Stu's favorite places to be his mother's waterfront home on Wooten Lake. This is where he loved to soak up the sun and spend his spring / summer months with family. There was always camping and fishing with the kids and grandkids on the property. Stu absolutely loved watching the sunrises and sunsets from mom's back deck. Some might say you could give him a good view and/or a chair by the fire, he'd be happy as a clam! A coffee cup in one hand and a smoke in the other! He loved living life as a simple man! Stu was predeceased in death by his father Robert Barhan; sister Jo Ann France and niece Krishna "Sissy" France. Stu is survived by his beloved mother, Florence "Randee" Mort. Wife Kathy Barhan, their children (including one foster child): Curtis Vert (Stephanie), Richard Harkleroad (Roni), David Harkleroad (Lindsey), Chris Harkleroad (Kori), and Schuyler Barhan. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Christopher Jr., Benjamin, Curtis Jr., Mara, Lily, Landon, Max, and Cayne, and nephews Jake Sigo and Justin France. A Memorial service will be held for friends and family members to celebrate Stu's life: Friday, February 28th, 2025, Lewis Funeral Chapel - 5303 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, WA 98312 Chapel service begins at 1:00PM followed by a reception. Lunch and refreshments will be provided "While on this ride called "Life" you have to take the good with the bad. Smile when you're sad, love what you've got and remember what you had. Always forgive but never forget. Learn from your mistakes but never regret. People change, things go wrong. Just remember, the ride goes on.
