Roland B. Edwards Obituary (1928

Roland Burdette Edwards November 6, 1928 - August 27, 2011 Roland was born in Clay City, WA in the shadow of the Cascade Mountains and raised in Longbranch, WA along the shores of Puget Sound. He was the son of Oren and May Edwards and brother to Sherman, Alva, Rachael, Zelna and an older sister that died in her childhood named Verla. Roland was preceded in death by his wife Ilene in May, 2011. Roland leaves behind 3 sons, David, Brad and Paul, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He also leaves his sister Zelna, brother Sherman and numerous nieces and nephews. Roland was an Electrician Mate in the Coast Guard prior to his career with Pacific Northwest Bell which brought him to Renton, WA where he raised his family. After Roland retired he built a house on family property on Hood Canal where Roland and Ilene enjoyed their lives until Ilene passed away in May and Roland passed away in August 2011. There are two things that most of the people that knew Roland are likely to remember about him. One is that he would always go out of his way to give his time to help someone The other thing that he will be remembered for is his craftsmanship. He had the ability to make beautiful projects out of raw material. He often incorporated an element to a project that would give someone trouble trying to figure out how he did it. A memorial will be at The Stone Chapel in Poulsbo, WA on Saturday September 17 at 1 PM.
