Odes S. Bodle Obituary (1913

Odes S. Bodle, 94 died of natural causes at his home in Bremerton. Born October 15, 1913 in Decatur, Indiana to Ira and Ora (Click) Bodle, he served in the Conservation Corps in Washington, Idaho and California in the 30's and in Patton's Army in WWII with the 736th Division Tank Corps. He married Helen in June of 1946. Odes and Helen moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1948 where Odes worked for the City of Los Angeles as a Painter. Odes was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He believed the secret to a long life was "whiskey, women, onions, ketchup and candy" and said "If I'd have know I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself." Odes was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brothers Wayne, Raymond and Watler. He is survived by daughter Lana and husband Bob; sister Joan Hitchcock; grandchildren Wendy (Kevin) Durig, Chris (Penny) Affolter and his great-grandchidlren, Violet, Gage, Nathan, Alexandra, Christopher, Jr. and Elora. A wake will be held at his granddaughter Wendy's home, Friday, August 15th at 5PM. Memorial donations may be given to Washington State Veteran's Home, Retsil, WA. Arrangements entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
