Lucille Emma (Goldenstein) Frood Obituary (1920

On July 2, 2009 Lucille went to be in the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Lucille was born in Bozeman, MT, to John and Etta Goldenstein. She spent her early years on the family ranch south of Bozeman, graduating from Galitan County High School in 1939. On February 21, 1942 she married the "love of her life" Alex Frood. Alex and Lucille were blessed with two children, Karen and Doug. The family moved from Montana to Bremerton, WA in 1955. Lucille worked for Van de Kamp's Bakery stocking stores from Bremerton to Poulsbo with goodies in her blue and white uniform complete with her "Dutch girl" white hat and apron. She retired in 1985. She was a faithful and devoted charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Bremerton, where she served the church in many capacities. Your loving family and friends will always remember and admire you for your strength and determination (along with a cup full of German stubbornness that helped get the job done)! You were a Mom to many, a loving caregiver to Dad, the "Energizer Bunny"! The busy baker (oh, those homemade cinnamon rolls every Saturday morning), an exuberant cook, who loved to entertain. You were never without a craft project under construction. Alex preceded her in death in 1989. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Karen Barker (Jim); her son, Doug Frood (Molly); one sister, Verna Adams of Townsend, MT; two brothers, Alvin (Buzz) Goldenstein and Gerald (Babe) Goldenstein, both of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren Chad Barker, Heather Ferrier (Brian), Kevin Barker, Corey Frood (Kirsten) and Sharla Dier (Noah), seven great-grandchildren and one on the way. Mother, you fought the fight and more. We are comforted in knowing that Jesus welcomed you with, "Well done good and faithful Servant." Perfect Peace, Momma. We will forever carry your love and memories in our hearts. Viewing will be from 10:00 - 12:30 on Monday, July 13, 2009, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton.
