Linda K. Joyce, the former Executive Director of the YWCA of Kitsap County, passed away on March 22, 2015 after a five year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 62.
During her twenty years as the Executive Director of the YWCA of Kitsap County, Linda played a vital part in helping the YWCA grow from an organization that served about 2, 500 people a year to over 6, 000. Much of her work was focused on advocacy of domestic violence victims.
Prior to arriving in Silverdale, Washington, Linda worked tirelessly in other capacities to help those in society who needed a helping hand. This included working with foster children, senior citizens, at-risk youths, AIDS patients, battered women and the homeless.
There are many adjectives that could be used to describe Linda. One that stands out is "impactful." She made an impact on all those she interacted with directly or indirectly. Whether it was via conversation, in writing (everyone LOVED her calligraphy styled handwriting), her infectious laugh or just being near you.
In her spare time, Linda loved spending time with friends and family, traveling, watching game shows and reading People magazine. She especially enjoyed seeing her grandson, Dion Ingram Jr. (an aspiring professional dancer), dance on stage.
Linda K. Joyce; domestic violence advocate, champion of society causes, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend to all, earthly and now heavenly angel, will be missed but because of her love, efforts and impact, will be eternally remembered.
To continue her spirit of giving, Linda requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following charities:
