Iris M. Strehlow Obituary (1923

Iris M. Strehlow, 90, of Sumner, WA passed away peacefully on Nov. 23, 2013. She graduated from West Seattle High School as Valedictorian and continued to enjoy learning her entire life. Iris was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Creator Lutheran Church, and enjoyed Swedish class and bible studies. She also held memberships in the Elks, and was a violinist in the Bremerton Symphony. Iris was an early environmentalist who enjoyed hiking and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Nan Nelson, husband Benjamin Strehlow and daughter, Kathleen Schofield. Her memory will live on with her sons, Charles Strehlow of Vancouver, WA, David Strehlow of Menlo Park, CA, and Jon Strehlow of Chehalis, WA; daughter, Nancy Karr of Lake Tapps, WA; brother, Robert Nelson of Port Orchard, WA; sister, Dorothy Brown of Renton, WA; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and the many people she has touched with her loving life. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7th at 11am at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton, WA. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28th at 11am at Creator Lutheran Church in Bonney Lake, WA.
