KITSAP COUNTY LOSES A DEAR FATHER On October 26, 2014 Grady Nathaniel Moore, Sr. passed away meeting our Lord. After his passing he was surrounded by his big beloved family. Grady was 85 soon to turn 86 in December. He had fulfilled a very active life for the past 75 years. He enjoyed traveling with the family, going across the country with 5 screaming kids, his wife including a collie. And yes, we all survived in a Plymouth station wagon that rocked! Dad always enjoyed a good chuckle and never met a stranger. I remember the time we were traveling across country and Dad stopped at a rest area to eat. It specifically stated do not get out of your car-beware of bees! Well this warning was a joke to Dad, especially for a man who had to walk 7 miles a day to school while growing up. It didn't take any time after our fried chicken lunch was bee invaded Of course, Dad ran back to the car and made us get all the food, having a little chuckle. Then there was the time when he left his teeth at the picnic site and they were thrown in the trash can accidently. Of course he had the last chuckle when he made us get them out of the trash can. We will always remember your chuckle Dad and have fond loving memories of you. Dad led a simple life and loved to garden. He grew his own fruits and vegetables and raised pigs. He also loved to fish and in his younger days he and mom were bowling champions. He fulfilled his dreams while serving 26 years in the United States Army and completing 20 years for Civil Service, retiring from both careers. Grady was born on December 16, 1928 in Hinesville, Georgia to the late Evelyn Baker Moore Anderson and Calvin Richard Moore. Grady was also raised by his late stepfather Thomas Anderson. Grady is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Moore of 60 years and 7 children, Diane Frazer, Patrick Taylor, Viva Todd (Jerry Todd), Tonya Moore, Grady N. Moore, Jr., Michael Moore, Santhan Giarratano ( Steven Giarratano); grandchildren, Patrick Taylor, Jr., Katrina Madlock, Louis Gaulden II, Lorenzo Gaulden, Goldyn Giarratano, Naomi Johnson Moore, Whitney Johnson Moore, and Indigo Williams. He also has great grandchildren, Tyson Gaulden, Zayden Alvarado and Hendrix Gaulden. Grady is preceded in death by sisters Amy Jones, Dorethea Armistead, brothers Johnny C. Moore (Hattie Moore), brother Walter Moore (Jean Moore), brother Bobby Anderson (Okie Mae) survived by brother and sisters, Evelyn Cobham (George), Gladys Latrelle Nichols (Pete), Charlie Moore (Laverne), brother in laws Freddie Jones, Sr. and Charles Armistead and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held November 8, 2014 at the Fort Lewis Post Cemetery, Bldg 3992, Cemetery Road, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wa. 98433 at 2 pm.
