Elaine C. Valnes Obituary (1923

Elaine C. Valnes, 99, of Bremerton, WA, passed away on June 28, 2022. Born on May 17th, 1923 in Lake Traverse, SD to Arthur and Christine (Vassen) Smith, Elaine went on to graduate from Sisseton High School in Sisseton, SD. She married A. Lloyd Valnes and together, raised their 4 children. Elaine loved her family, Jesus, and all sort of experiences and adventures: photography, painting, antiquing, bowling, the Red Hats, traveling, camping, fishing, clam digging, huckleberry picking, and sharing all of those adventures with the ones she loved. For Elaine and Lloyd, there were never too many people at the table or a lack of marshmallow sticks in the campfire. Elaine will be remembered for the sparkle in her eye and her ability to make people feel comfortable and welcomed. She lived her life in a manner that was true to her deep and abiding faith in the Lord and never stopped talking about how thankful she was to Him for all the blessings that filled her life. She was member of Hillcrest Church in Bremerton, WA. Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, A. Lloyd Valnes; son, Terry Valnes; sisters, Edna Andrews and Ardis Maryott; and brother, Arvin Smith. Elaine's memory will live on with her daughters, Linda (Ron) Goodnough, Susan (Phil) LeBas, and Nancy Valnes; daughter-in-law, Peg (Fouts) Valnes; brother, Floyd (Rita) Smith and Sister-in-law, Verla Smith; 9 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many well-loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment will be held on Thursday, July 7th at 10:30am at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel on November 21, 2022 at 1:00pm.
