Edmond Hector Bourgeois Obituary (1928

Edmond Hector "Terry" Bourgeois, 85, loving husband of Janet (Jordan) Bourgeois of Kingston, Washington, was Honorably Discharged one last time, peacefully in his home, on July 15th, 2014. In his final days he was cared for by his wife Janet, his son Brian, step-children Amy and Aaron and grand-daughter Katherine. Terry was born in Salem, Massachusetts on August 4th, 1928, son of Hector Samuel and Exilda I (Dupree) Bourgeois. Just days after his 16th birthday, he followed in his brother's footsteps and set sail out of Boston harbor with the Merchant Marines. He survived eight convoy trips across the Atlantic and the English Channel; German rocket attacks in Antwerp, Belgium while supporting the war effort. His service is honored on the WWII monument in Washington, DC. After leaving the Merchant Marines he joined the Army Air Corp and in 1947 continued on with the newly formed U.S. Air Force. After 24 years, 6 months and 7 days of dedicated service, (Air Police, Security Police, First Sergeant and Military Training Instructor), Terry retired at Lackland AFB as an E-8 Master Sergeant in December 1971. After relocating to Fort Worth, Texas he started a second career with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in the Handly neighborhood and retired in 1991. Terry loved his family, his garden, going to breakfast with friends and fishing for "the big one" with his son at Lake Whitney, Texas. Terry shared 20 years of marriage with Janet and recently moved to Kingston, WA to be closer to his son and step-daughter and grandchildren. His last three years were spent reminiscing about his time on the water while watching the ferries come and go at the Kingston port. He is survived by his wife Janet of Kingston Washington; his son Brian of Wenatchee Washington; two step-children Amy, wife of Mark Anderson of Kingston, Washington and Aaron, husband of Jessica Snell of Newnan, Georgia; six grand-children, Katherine and Samuel Bourgeois of Wenatchee, Washington, Mariah and Kaylee Snell of Newnan, Georgia, Peri and Quinn Anderson of Kingston, Washington; multiple nieces and nephews and his brother Joseph Leon Bourgeois of Citrus Springs, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Anita Shea "Tata" and Theresa Gloria Bekeritis "Toots". He was laid to rest with full military honors at Laurel Grove Cemetery on Discovery Bay Road, Port Townsend Washington at 10AM on Friday July 18th. Deacon James Decker of Saint Olaf Catholic Church, Poulsbo presided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following in his honor: Disabled American Veterans; Wounded Warrior Project or Blinded Veterans Association.
