Edgar ''Bud'' George McAboy Obituary (1919

Edgar "Bud" George McAboy of Bremerton, Washington, passed away on May 28, 2003 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. He was 83 years of age. He was born on September 23, 1919 in Snohomish, Washington to Paul and Marian (Webster) McAboy. In 1938, he graduated from Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington. He also attended the apprenticeship school at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. He married Jean E. Wardell on November 7, 1941 in Bremerton. From 1944 to 1946, he was enlisted in the United States Navy, during which he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Sea Campaign Medal. He returned to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and worked there until his retirement in 1973, as an advanced planner and estimator. He built a thirty-foot yacht called the "Rambling Rose", which was the pride of his life. He was also a member of the Bremerton Yacht Club. He loved his family and enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his loving wife, Jean E. (Wardell) McAboy of Bremerton; sons Steve McAboy (and his wife Linda) of Poulsbo, Washington and David McAboy (and his wife Carol) of Kingston, Washington; daughters Linda Merrifield (and her husband Dick) of Bremerton and Susie Eilers (and her husband Vince) of Bremerton; sisters Margaret Napier and Vivian Anthony, both of Bremerton; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on June 7, 2003 at 1:00 in the afternoon at the Bremerton Yacht Club (2700 Yacht Haven Way Northwest, Bremerton, Washington, 98312). Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association of Washington (2625 3rd Avenue, Seattle, Washington, 98121-1213).
