Diana Lee Van Meter-Dean Obituary (1947

Diana Lee Van Meter-Dean, 55, of Belfair died November 30, 2002, of heart failure in Belfair. She was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Belfair to George and Myrtle (Culbertson) McKeown. She graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1965. Diana married Jack E. Dean in Reno, NV in 1996. She had worked for 15 years at the Keyport Naval Station and as a Supervisor at Imperial Manufacturing for 14 years. She was also employed part-time at the Washington State Liquor Store in East Bremerton and received citations for her good work there. She was member of the F.O.E. and V.F.W. and loved dancing and music. Survivors include her husband and mother, Myrtle McElhaney of Belfair, five stepsons, James C. Van Meter of Tacoma, Joey Dean of Bremerton, Jacques, Chad, and Jonah Dean, all of Port Orchard; a stepdaughter, Jamie Counts of Yakima; a brother, Larry McElhaney of Belfair; two sisters Cindy Scott of Kent and Laura McElhaney of Belfair; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM this Saturday at the N. Mason Eagles in Belfair. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton.
