Deacon, Carlton G. Moyer Obituary (1923

Deacon, Carlton G. Moyer "Weez" passed away on April 4th in Poulsbo, WA. He was born in Allentown, PA to "The Old Man" and Mamie Ruth Fenstermacher on July 28, 1923. He was married to T. Irene Moyer (Ahmann), the most important and loved person in his life for 73 years. He loved her with passion and devotion. He was the "Why?" and "How" and she was the "WOW" of life. After only 3 dates they were married in March of 1945 in Hollister, California. He was a proud United States World War II Veteran in Submarine Service, and went on to work at Boeing for 30 years as a Research and Development Engineer. Projects included MX Missile Project, (Minuteman), Lunar Rover Prototype Project, 737 Development. After his retirement from Boeing, he was ordained as Deacon in the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Seattle and humbly served Holy Family Parish in Kirkland and St Olaf Parish in Poulsbo until his death. His curiosity and desire to learn was insatiable. For many years on his birthday he and Irene hiked 7 miles on Mt. Rainer. He was a Master of wine making and tasting. Many guest's visits were shortened by the smell of fermenting sauerkraut. He was a hugger with a firm handshake, a coffee drinker, bird watcher, gardener. He was a veracious reader. He was known for his dedication, devotion, demonstrative hugs, firm handshake and red Christmas sweater. He loved children and secretly admired kids that were rascals. He was fun-loving, adventurous and impulsive, getting his family in travel situations such as getting caught in tornadoes and having to spend the night in a morgue. He could butt heads with the best of them and was opinionated boycotter. He is preceded in death by his grandsons, Bobby Moyer and Shawn Sundin; and brothers, sisters, and many friends. His memory will live on with sons, Bob (Carol) and Darryl (Melinda); daughters, Carleen, and Barbara (Mike); sister, Jean; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Church at 8:30am Friday, April 13th with a Rosary to follow at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00am. Interment will be held at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, WA at 12:00pm Saturday, April 14th. Memorial Donations: "Pass it On" Much appreciations are given to Home Instead Home Care. Their kindness and professionalism made out journey much easier. Lastly, he would be appalled that this obituary is so informative and long. But it's our turn to express our gratitude and love for a man who had more integrity than anyone we know.
