Consolacion "Nena" Pumaren Sim Obituary (1927

Consolacion "Nena" Sim, a devoted woman of faith, passed away on January 19th, 2020 peacefully in her sleep beside the love of her life Noel Sim. Nena was born to Jovita Sitchon and Pascual Pumaren in Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines but grew up in Manilla. With a profound passion for teaching, Nena earned her elementary school teacher's degree from the Philippine Normal College and a Bachelor of Science in Education, mathematics major, from Philippine Women's University. Nena taught in city public schools and Grace Christian High School in Manila, Philippines. After immigrating to the United States in March 1969, she taught at Linden High School in New Jersey and St. Stephen's Parochial School in Brooklyn, New York. She spent the remaining years of her teaching career with private Christian Schools retiring from the Ambassadors Christian Academy in Toms River, New Jersey 1991. A homemaker at heart, Nena enjoyed hosting family and friends and tending to her vegetable and flower garden. She served as Chaplain of the Gideon's Women Auxiliary in the Bremerton Camp and Treasurer of the Filipino- American Seniors Club of Kitsap County. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Noel; their only child Pearl Grace (Frank) Campochiaro; grandchildren US Marine Staff Sgt. Vincent Noel (Lacy) Campochiaro, Grace Nicole (US Marine Cpl. Michael) Casey; great granddaughter Lyvia Grace Campochiaro; and a number of nephews, nieces. A celebration of life will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, February 1st at Sylvan Way Baptist Church, 900 NE Sylvan Way Bremerton.
