Becky Smith Obituary (2013)

Rebecca "Becky" Smith, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She was a long time resident of Sacramento, CA. In 2008, she moved to the state of WA to be closer to her daughter and family. Rebecca grew up in the Philippines raised by a very strict set of Christian parents. Being the eldest of 9 children, it instilled upon her the importance of hard work. So at an early age she learned to develop the importance of having a great sense of work ethics which she carried on into her later years. Having to continually care for her younger siblings and maintain her house duties didn't always sit well with her but she didn't have any choice. She learned early on that working hard produced independence. She was "Jane of all trades". Becky pursued a career in cosmetology and enjoyed traveling after high school. Although she had been known to have a strong will and voice her opinions, she never defiled the head of the household; and when her father said it was time to pursue higher education, she did just that. While pursuing a professional career, she got married and had 2 daughters. She continued her education and later received a degree in dentistry from the University of Santo Tomas. At the young age of 28, she became a widow. While she was working as a dentist at Clark AFB in the Philippines, she met her second husband (who passed away in 1991). In 1966 she left for the United States to be with him. They had a baby boy in 1968 while stationed in Japan. Among the many jobs that Becky had, cosmetology, house cleaning, dentistry, and ground stewardess, none was more enjoyable than when she ran her very own board and care for the elderly in CA. She alone managed the caring for 5-6 ladies at a time. She saw many ladies come and go through her home and each one was special to her. She loved each and every one and they loved her in return. Becky enjoyed life and she knew how to have a good time. She was always the "perfect hostess" whenever she gave parties. Friends always came to her gatherings because there was sure to be plenty of delicious food and great entertainment. She had a big and generous heart and was always willing to help out her family and friends. She was compassionate, intelligent, quick witted, a sharp business woman, artistic, creative, detail oriented, and a fashionable woman. She also loved beautiful things and she surrounded herself with their beauty. Becky will be missed by her 2 daughters, son, 3 brothers, grandkids, great grandkids, and friends.
