Audrey Joanna Pendergast Obituary (1917

Audrey Joanna Pendergast, 92, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Bremerton. She was born March 20, 1917 in the railroad town of Minoa, NY to Leroy and Alta (Schuyler) Cook. She was one of seven children having five sisters and one brother. While attending Eastwood High School in Syracuse, NY, she earned an art degree and met the love of her life, Andrew Pendergast, whom she married on March 28, 1935. Audrey and her children traveled from Syracuse to Washington by train when Andy found work at the shipyard in 1945. Audrey loved to sew, read, garden, and travel. She was fond of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking. She was also a member of the Eagles Drill Team. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Alta Cook, and by her beloved husband Andrew Pendergast whose life was tragically cut short in a plane crash in the Canadian Wilderness in 1986. She is survived by her two sons Andrew P. and James N. Pendergast; her three daughters Mary Ellin Stark (Marlyn), Sarah Ann Sims (Wes), and Joanne C. Pringle (James); 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and all of the friends she made at Claremont East.
