Americ N. Higashi Obituary (1947

Americ N. Higashi of Poulsbo, WA passed away on January 3, 2005. He was 57 years of age. Americ was born to Roy Y. and Ruli (Taniguchi) Higashi on September 9, 1947 in Monterey, CA. He graduated from Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, CO in 1965, Washington State University in 1971, and the University of Idaho in 1973. Americ served in the US Army from 1968-1970. He taught English at North Seattle Community College and was owner of American Showcase photo studio in Redmond, WA. He retired in 2000. On August 5, 1999 at Fort Richardson, Alaska, Americ married Susan J. Drury. Americ enjoyed music and movies, photography and video. He was a brown belt in the martial arts. He loved classic muscle cars, carpentry, boating, and computer applications. He had cruised to Alaska on seven occasions. Americ liked bird watching and was highly active on Ebay. Americ is survived by his wife of Poulsbo, WA; mother, Ruli (Taniguchi) Hagashi of Puyallup, WA; brother, Terry Hagashi (Linda) of Boise, ID; sisters, Betty Wellen (Ken) of Mesa, AZ, and Margie Jensen of Puyallup, WA; and a nephew, 2nd Lt "Airforce" J. Kyle Jensen of Vance Airforce Base, OK. Visitation will be at The Stone Chapel in Poulsbo on Wednesday, January 5th from 3pm-5pm, Thursday from 9am-5pm, and Friday from 9am- to service time. A funeral service will be held at The Stone Chapel on Friday, January 7th at 3:30pm.
