A.J. Harrison Obituary (1926

Armon "A.J." Harrison was born on November 20, 1926, the fourth son of a farming family in rural Texas. He grew up helping his dad raise cotton and vegetables and even walked to school barefoot. When WWII broke out, all of AJ's older brothers immediately enlisted to support the effort. Feeling a sense of duty it wasn't long before AJ presented himself at the enlistment office at the age of 16. Having never been out of Texas the allure of the Navy influenced him to join. He saw action in the South Pacific theater piloting landing craft. AJ was one of the few to witness the Japanese surrender in Tokyo harbor as his ship had pulled up beside the surrender ship. A.J. had numerous jobs during his life that included long haul trucking, working in silver mines, and as a corrections officer on McNeal Island. A.J. eventually went to real estate school to be an R.E. Broker. He became the most successful Real Estate Broker in Huntington Beach, CA. It was in Idaho working the silver mines that AJ first discovered Free Masonry. This ignited a passion that lasted over 60 years. A.J. was Master of the Lodge twice and a mentor to many. A.J. is survived by his wife of 52 years, Tracey, two sons Mike and Bob, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A.J. will always be remembered for his big as Texas smile his warm heart and love of a good joke.
