Wallis R. Kimble Obituary (1940

Wallis R. Kimble, 69, of Kingston, WA, passed away on August 24th at his home of Lung Cancer. He was born on February 9, 1940 to Ray M. Kimble and Lucille (Brannan) Kimble. He attended and graduated from Challis High School in Challis, ID in 1958, and Washington State University in Pullman, with a degree in B.S. Civil Engineering in 1968. He proudly served in the US Navy from March 1959- to March 1963 and was an Air/ Sea Rescue Flight Member on 2 West Pacific. Wally married Marilyn Vinup on August 31, 1963 in Lynden, WA. He worked as a civil engineer and as a construction project manager for Kiewit Pacific Company. He was heavily involved in numerous high profile construction projects in the Seattle Area including both West Seattle Bridges, East Channel, and Lake Washington Floating Bridges in I- 90. He was a supporting member of the Experimental Aviation Association and Pilots Association. He was a commissioner for the Port of Eglon and an Aircraft owner. Wallis was a major supporter of Washington State University Education and Athletics. Wally's interest included owning and operating a ranch in Challis, ID, and was an accomplish pilot with numerous adventures from Alaska to the Caribbean. He enjoyed traveling the world with visits that included Antarctica, Iceland, Africa, and Patagonia. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling in his motor home. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Atkinson. Surviving are his loving wife, Marilyn of Poulsbo, sons, Mark W. Kimble of Ridgefield, WA, Eric S. Kimble of Portland, OR, sister, Connie Cerchione of Idaho Falls, ID, granddaughter, Lauren Kimble.
