Sverre Nordness Obituary (1924

Sverre Nordnes, 83, of Poulsbo died at Martha and Mary, Sept. 18th. He was born in Leirfjord, Hegeland, Norway to Ragnar and Aslaug (Nilsen) Nordnes on Sept. 23, 1924. Sverre immigrated to Poulsbo with his family at the age of 5. He graduated from North Kitsap High with the class of 1942. Sverre served in the US Navy during WWII. On January 10, 1948 he married Elaine D. Delzell in Bremerton, WA. Sverre followed in his father's footsteps becoming a Commercial Halibut Fisherman in the spring and summer. In the winter he delivered heating oil to North Kitsap homes, working for Frank Raab. After Frank retired, Sverre purchased the business and became the local Wholesale Distributor for Standard Oil Co. Sverre was a lifetime member of the Sons of Norway in Poulsbo and the Bremerton Elks. After retiring, Sverre enjoyed visiting with family and snowbirding in Arizona. Sverre is survived by his wife Elaine; son Bob Nordnes; daughter Ann Linenko; sister Arna Mathisen; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Poulsbo First Lutheran Church, Wed. Sept. 24th at 1PM. A reception will follow. Arrangements by The Stone Chapel. www.lewischapel.com
