Red James Obituary (1930

Raymond "Red" James, 77, of Bremerton, passed away on May 5, 2008. Born in Bremerton on July 28, 1930, Ray graduated from Bremerton High School in 1947. He went on to serve in the Navy in 1947 and 1948, working as an electrician. Ray worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Shop 99 for 52 years, retiring in 1986 as a General Foreman. Ray married Virginia Krienke in 1959. In retirement, Ray traveled the country with his wife, Virginia, visiting each state twice. He was an avid hunter and made yearly trips to eastern Washington. He also enjoyed working in the yard, reading Western novels and teasing his grandkids. He is survived by his wife Virginia, daughters; Vicky Gibbs of Gresham, Ore., Alicia James of Bremerton, and Sandra LaChapelle of San Diego; son Arnold James of Belfair; grandsons Nick Gibbs of Gresham, Ore., Jeff Gibbs of Gresham Ore., and Anthony James of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; granddaughters Amanda James of Belfair, Dava Dayan of San Diego, Shawn Barnum of Bremerton, Jennifer Miller of Tacoma, grandson; Kristopher Brummond of Bremerton, and Aunt Helen Sims of Grayland. He was preceded in death by son Steven James, parents Raymond and Lucille James and stepmother Ethyl James. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Lutheran Church, at the corner of Holly and Seabeck Road on May 9th at 2PM.
