Paul Harold Brandfas, Sr Obituary (1919

Paul Harold Brandfas, Sr, age 83, passed away late Sunday afternoon, July 14, 2002 at his home in Port Orchard, WA. He was born April 6, 1919 in Franklin, Nebraska to Joseph Henry and Myrtle Lenora (Goings) Brandfas. He spent the early years of his life in Nebraska, before his family moved to Payette, Idaho. He completed his education in Franklin, Nebraska. Paul served in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) in Boise, Idaho. After that, he entered the US Army and ultimately served in the Asiatic Theater during World War II. On March 8, 1941 Paul married Barbara in Payette, Idaho. They found their way out to the Bremerton area, where he was employed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a welder. He retired in 1982. He was very proud of his work and the ability to get his projects in well before the deadline. Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and go camping. He enjoyed going 4 wheeling on the sanddunes in Arizona and playing cards. The Mariners were his team and Edgar was his player. He was so glad that Edgar was back in the line-up. Paul felt that his greatest accomplishment were the two boys he raised. Paul is survived by his sons; Paul Brandfas, Jr and his wife Bobbie of Bremerton and Robert Brandfas of Port Orchard, sisters; Hazel Hostler of Puyallup, Sally Baker of Yelm and Mabel Cook of Tacoma, brothers; Jim Brandfas of Tacoma, Charlie Brandfas of Puyallup and Leonard Brandfas of Tacoma, grandson; Jeff Brandfas of Port Orchard, granddaughter Jeanette and her husband John Wolfe and their children Jonathan and Julia of Belfair, granddaughters; Debra and her husband Grant Cornilus and family of Kingston, Connie and her husband Chuck Whitney and family of Port Orchard, grandsons; Richard Keenan and wife Diane and family of Poulsbo,Kenneth Glaesemann of Bremerton and great-grandson Christopher Lucas of Bremerton. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. There will be viewing Friday, July 19, 2002 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Lewis Funeral Chapel. On Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 1:00 PM the family asks their friends to join with them at Forest Lawn Cemetery for a Graveside service.
