Oliver Miles Nelson Obituary (1922

Oliver Miles Nelson, 88, died on May 16, 2010 in Bremerton. He was born on March 17, 1922 in Medicine lake, MT to Peter and Clara (Jarstad) Nelson. Oliver graduated from Medicine Lake High in MT and later went on to serve as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force from Nov. 10, 1942 - Nov.8, 1945. Oliver also served in Civilian Conservation Corps from July 26, 1940 until December 20, 1941. He was stationed in Italy, England and flew 9 combat missions as a B-24 gunner. Oliver married Mary Ellen (Wright) on Sept 16, 1947 in Bremerton. Oliver worked as a Joiner for 27 years at PSNS before retiring. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed swimming, fishing, skiing, card games and gardening. Oliver is preceded in death by his wife; Mary Ellen Nelson. He is survived by sons; Wayne (Barbara) Nelson of Bremerton, Randy (Sue) Williamson of Sammamish, 6 grandchildren; Dean Williamson, Jennifer (Brent) Evans, Jeff Nelson, Jill (Mike) Porter, Mark (Lynn) Nelson, Christopher Williamson, and 4 great-grandchildren; Troy and Allie Porter, Austin Evans and Byron Nelson. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, PO Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383. A memorial service will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel Sunday May 23rd at 11 AM.
