Nelvin Arnold Lofthus Obituary (1913

Arnold Lofthus, 96, passed away in Bremerton on Oct 24, 2009. Born to Erick and Sarah (Lerum) Lofthus on Oct 3, 1913, in Crosby, ND, he graduated from Wildrose High School. He married Luella "Babe" Kienitz on July 28, 1943, in Bremerton. Arnold was a sheet metal worker at PSNS for 5 years and later in Keyport for 19 years. He retired in 1966 after 24 years in the industry. He was a gifted builder, building four homes in Bremerton and also crafting cabinets and building sea walls. He was a member of the Bremerton Senior Citizens and the American Contract Bridge League. He was best known as Bremerton's "Flower Man," raising flowers and growing raspberries for over 50 years. He also enjoyed bridge and cribbage, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Erick and Sarah; wife, Luella; and sisters, Alice Seim and Eleanor Pederson. He is survived by nieces Arlene Overbo and Loretta Yanz; nephew, Ernest Pederson; sister-in-law, Leona Kienitz; and close friends, Ron and Liz Barrington and Art and Carolyn Folden. A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct 30, 2009, at 1:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton, followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
