Jess ''Joe'' Albert Veeder Obituary (1925

Jess "Joe" Albert Veeder passed away from complications due to Alzheimer's disease at Alterra Clarebridge in Silverdale, Washington on March 14, 2003. He was 77 years of age. Mr. Veeder was born in Tiburon, California on August 15, 1925 to Albert L. and Margie M. (Lalumondier) Veeder. He attended Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Washington, graduating in 1943. He was enlisted in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, achieving the rank of technical sergeant. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the European African Middle-Eastern Service Medal, medal of good conduct, and the victory medal. In 1948, Mr. Veeder was a member of the first graduating class of Olympic College in Bremerton. He also attended University of Washington for a period of two years. Mr. Veeder worked as a sheet metal worker at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 34 years, until his retirement in 1980. In the year 2000, he married Marcella V. Lewis in Bremerton. He was a member and song leader at the Bremerton Church of Christ. Music was his passion, and he loved to sing and attend barbershop quartet performances. He also enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his wife Marcella V. (Lewis) Veeder of Bremerton; sister Mildred I. Cheplak (and her husband Clarence) of Port Orchard, Washington; brother-in-law Edward Belakiewicz; and various nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wives Mary N. and Rita B. Veeder; and sisters Dolly F. Robbins and Violet F. Belakiewicz.
