James R. Profit, Jr. Obituary (1920

James Reginald Profit Jr., 90, of Port Townsend passed away March 16, 2011. He was born in Port Angeles, the sole survivor of 8 children to James Profit Sr. and Sylvia Prescott Profit. He grew up in Fall City, working on his family's dairy farm, now Tall Chief Golf Course. He met his wife Hazel McCaffree in the 3rd grade and it was love at first site. They are survived by their 4 children: Carroll Silvera, Patsy Fox, Thomas and Jerry Profit: 10 grandchildren, Darlene Silvera, preceding him in death in 1979, and 11 great-grandchildren. Jim served in the Navy during WWII. He was also a long time member of the American Legion, Eagles, Elks and the NRA. Jim's adventurous nature took him from breaking horses, to building roads in Alaska during the war, as well as, a partnership in a saw mill to owning his own Christmas tree farm and working as a diesel mechanic in Yosemite. As an engineer for General Dynamics, Jim traveled to various missile launch sites. After retiring from GD, Jim and Hazel began their dream of traveling to every state in the U.S. where they made many friends. Finally deciding to settle in Port Townsend, where Jim built their home.
