Glenys Ann McFall Obituary (1940

Glenys passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday. She was at home with her husband Ian, family and friends. She had been fighting lung cancer since her since her diagnosis two years ago. Known by many of her friends as "the Lady in Red" she will be remembered most for her wonderful sense of humor, her green thumb and her knitting skills. But she was much more than that She was born in a little village in England call Bloxwich which was listed in the first Roman census. She and her family had lived there for several generations. She graduated from Elmore Green High School at which time she could take shorthand and type at 140 words per minute. Her father, Walter Hiles, served in the RAF in WWII. Her mother raised her and her two younger siblings while he was away. She met her husband Ian while he was still in High School. She worked for the UK telephone company, the GPO, as a telephone receptionist at the time. She gave birth to twins, Andrew and Corran and now has 8 grand-children. The family immigrated to the USA in 1967 when the kids were only four years old. Glenys had to raise the children with no family and no friends initially. She had to learn to drive a car that was "a block long" on the "wrong" side of the road and learn to speak American instead of English. Of course, she coped. She rejoined the workforce once the kids grew up. She worked as an executive secretary at the prestigious executive recruiting company Korn-Ferry, and other corporations including Northern Telecom, and San Francisco Venture Capital gurus Hambrecht and Quist. She retired from General Electric's Aircraft Leasing at 55. After Glenys and her husband moved to Brinnon, 2006. Glenys worked as Adminstrator of the Brinnon-Quilcene Chamber of Commerce. She ran a small business for her husband, importing French Sailplanes for several years. She managed the importation, installation of instruments, and FAA airworthiness certification. Her husband only had to fly them! She learned to ski, drive a van towing 45ft glider trailer, and was the better helmsman on the family's 34ft sailboat. She wanted to thank all her friends for all the support and love they shown her. In particular she also wanted to Dr. Dennis Willerford and his team at Harrison Hostpital for giving her "an extra two years" Glenys is survived by her husband Ian, her two children Andrew and Corran, eight grandchildren, two cats and several beautiful gardens on both sides of the Atlantic.
