Glatha Margaret Milligan Obituary (1924

Glatha Margaret Milligan, nee Berry, was born February 25, 1924. The second of twin girls, to the surprise of her Mother, Eva G. Berry, Father, Dean C. Berry and midwife, alike. She was born 15 minutes after her twin, Latha M. Berry (Thayer). The girls were born and raised in LaGrande, Oregon. They lived on a small farm, just outside of town, where they went to a country school, the principal, being their Uncle. They had great fun, fooling friends and boyfriends, by occasionally, "switching" places with one another. In 1942, they moved to Bremerton, Washington. Latha to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, during the war years. Glatha working at the YMCA. They loved dancing at DelMarco's on Callow. Latha meeting the love of her life, Robert R. Thayer. Glatha meeting Charles Barnes, her first husband. In the 1950's-1960's, Glatha worked at the Kress Co., in downtown Bremerton. In the 1960's, Latha began working at F. W. Woolworth Co., just down the street, causing laughs and confusion to patrons of those stores. Glatha met and married, Russell C. Milligan in 1960. They moved to Illinois and then on to Reno, Nevada, for his work. After the passing of her mother, Eva, in 1973, she moved back to Bremerton. She worked at the old Family Pancake House on Kitsap Way for 13 years, retiring in 1986. In 1999, a fall, at home, resulted in a broken hip, which she recovered from, however, not enough to be able to go back to her home on Burwell Ave. She moved to Belmont's Assisted Living unit, living there until hospice took over that section. She then moved to room 3, Stafford Healthcare, where she lived from June, 2006 until February 2014. Glatha passed 9 days short of her goal, her 90th birthday. May she rest in peace.
