Everett ''Buck'' R. Wynn Obituary (1917

EVERETT R. 'BUCK' WYNN Everett R. 'Buck' Wynn, 84, of Bremerton, Washington, died September 17, 2002, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bremerton, Washington. He was born October 22, 1917, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Andrew and Ella (Wood) Wynn. He graduated from the Ben Blewett High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1936. He met and later married Mary G. Edmondsen on March 7, 1941, in St. Charles, Missouri. She prededed him in death on December 27, 2000, in Bremerton, Washington. He had worked as a painter in Shop 71, at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, later retiring from Shop 71, as the Superintendent. All of us who knew Buck Wynn, know that his life revolved around Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and his love of what he did there. His career spanned 40 years in the shipyard, 39 of which were spent as one type of supervisor or another, with fond memories of the WWII years at PSNS. Buck arrived in Bremerton, Washington, from his home in St. Louis, Missouri in 1940, with plans to visit his brother who was serving aboard the battleship ''Tennessee''. Enticed by higher wages here, (79 cents per hour as compared with the 40 cents he was making as a tool and die maker apprentice in St. Louis), Wynn decided to apply with the Labor Board. Before lunch, he found himself working in a shaft aboard the ''Tennessee'' and, aside from missing lunch and dinner the first day, he never looked back, finally rising to the top of his trade in 1971. Buck retired as Superintendent of the Paint/Electroplating Shop in 1980. Buck enjoyed his family, children and many grandchildren at family gatherings. He was a devoted husband and father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening; raising vegetables and growing flowers. He loved to go salmon fishing. He enjoyed crabbing and clam digging. Buck and his late wife, Mary, enjoyed traveling the world over. They traveled to Europe, The Far East and Australia, just to name a few of their favorites. They were fortunate to travel the world over together for many years on their vacations, both alone and with the family. Buck was an active member of the Superintendents's Association until just before his death. In younger years, he was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master. He also contributed as a past member of Our lady of the Sea Catholic Cchurch, and as a current member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, both in Bremerton, Washington. Survivors include his 3 children and their families: sons, Michael E. Wynn, and his wife Marleen, of Silverdale, Washington; Arthur A. Wynn, and his wife Mary, of Bremerton, Washington; and daughter, Susan E. Ramsey, and her husband John, of Bremerton, Washington. Six grandchildren: Greg Gillespie, Cindy Crouse, Stacy Gillespie, Eric Wynn, Ashley Wynn and Jeffery Wynn; and five grandchildren, Taylor Gillespie, Kyra Gillespie, Christa Crouse, KD Crouse, and Chase Gillespie. Buck was preceded in death by his 13 siblings. A Celebration of Everett ''Buck'' Wynn, will begin with visitation commencing in Lewis Funeral Chapel, at 11:00 AM, prior to the Funeral Service at 1:00PM, September 28, 2002, in the Lewis Funeral Chapel, 5303 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, Washington.
