Ellis P. Greene Obituary (1930

Ellis P. Greene, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26th at his home in Poulsbo, WA. He was born on December 1st, 1930 to Ellis and Lucille Greene in Macon, Georgia. In his early youth, he moved to the west coast of Florida where he enjoyed fine times working with his folks and doing the things he loved such as riding horses, hunting, fishing, school and sports. In school, he made many good friends that he stayed in touch with throughout his life. Following high school, Ellis attended the University of Florida, where he met and married Adele Schaff in 1952, who was his loving wife for 60 years before she passed away in 2012. Ellis graduated from college in 1953 and became an Air Force officer in a rewarding career that included tours in Morrocco, Germany, and Vietnam, retiring in 1980 as a Lt. Colonel. Following his USAF retirement, Ellis worked as a consultant and planner for defense contractors in support of the USAF. He was very proud of the work he did for the USAF over those years, and he made many good friends in the process that he has remained in close touch with ever since. Ellis and Adele retired in Las Vegas, NV, where they lived for over 30 years. In Las Vegas, Ellis was always active on home projects and he particularly loved being with his horses on trail rides with many friends. He had a positive impact during this period working to support the establishment of horse trails in the rapidly growing Las Vegas community. In 2011, Ellis and Adele moved to Poulsbo, WA to be nearer to family, and he remained active right to the end with projects and trips, and staying in touch with all of his friends. Both Ellis and Adele truly enjoyed life and traveling abroad while in the Air Force, and then traveling extensively around the world over the years following his retirement. Ellis is survived by his two sons, Mark and Pete, his two daughters (in law) Mary and Gretchen, his five grandchildren Katie, John, Brian, Beverly and Sam, and his three great grandchildren Riley, Noah, and Adele. Ellis was a fine man who made a difference and will be missed by so many folks, his family and his many friends across the country.
