Douglas Patrick Quinlan Obituary (1926

Douglas Patrick Quinlan, born January 14th, 1926 to LeRoy and Verna Quinlan, died January 10th, 2011 of a heart condition worsened by a recent illness. He was surrounded by his family when he passed peacefully. Douglas was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, joined the Marines at age 17 and was a veteran of WWII. Following the service, he moved to Renton, WA., where he met and married his wife of 49 years, Ramona Schroeder Quinlan. Together they had 3 children; Terril Quinlan Pemberton, Mark D. Quinlan and Suzanne Quinlan Wright. Douglas was preceded in death by his wife Ramona and sister Elizabeth. He is survived by his twin brother James of Florida, his children and 4 grandchildren; Anya, Elise, Erica and Brett, sons-in-law Jack Wright and David Pemberton and numerous loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Douglas retired from the PSNS fire department where he met many long-term friends. He was a nature-lover, hiker, beloved owner of many fortunate cats and dogs over the years; protector of lost and injured animals. He was a devoted friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA or Kitsap Humane Society. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 22nd, at 1:00PM at Lewis Funeral Chapel with a reception to follow.
