Dorla D. Hedlund Obituary (1930

Dorla Dean Hedlund of Bremerton, pass away on September 29, 2007 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton from complications of kidney failure. Born on July 15, 1930 in Sangamon Valley, Illinois to Neville Edward Workman and Beulah Hattie Barker. From the age of 3 until she was 15, she and her sister, were raised by their aunt & uncle, Velma & Jim Hale in Virginia, Ill. In 1945 her mother & stepfather brought the children, Dean, Rose, out to Renton, Wa. to live on their chicken ranch. Later Dean & her brother Lee, went to California, where Dean met and later married Lawrence Silva. She had 5 children with Larry. Later she married Willard Bishop and lived in San Jose, Ca. She worked as a supervisor in the electronics industry during that time. In 1990 Dean moved to Belfair, Wa. next door to her sister. There she met Rod Hedlund. They were married in 1991. Dean loved to fish off their dock at Trails End Lake. Dean & Rod were able to take many enjoyable trips. She especially enjoyed her time at the casinos, usually leaving with more money than she had come with. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Albert Lee Workman, her husbands, Lawrence Silva, and Willard Bishop, daughter, Valine Rose Beebe, & son, Larry Silva. She is survived by her husband, Rodney A. Hedlund, sister, Rose M Bordelon & husband Jerry, daughter Lorrine Silva, sons Lonnie & Tony Silva, stepdaughter Carol Burdi, stepdaughter Lynn, & stepsons Rodd & Jess Hedlund, 29 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and many friends from Kitsap Mobile Home Park, and Trails End Lake. A private burial will be held at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Belfair, directed by Lewis Funeral Chapel of Bremerton. Thanks to the staff of Harrison Hospital for their wonderful care and thoughtfulness.
