DANIEL WILLIAM COULTER

Daniel William Coulter died at the Harrison Hospital on July 27, 2002, Leukemia, surrounded by his loving family.

Dan was born in Seattle, on May 15, 1922 to Charles S. and Jessie I. (Hansen) Coulter.
He grew up in Suquamish, attending the Suquamish Elementry School and graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1940, where he was student body president, played football, and was in the high school marching band and orchestra.

He married his high school sweetheart, Louise Hill, in Bremerton on March 21, 1943, where they raised their four children.

Dan worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as an electrician and nuclear inspector for thirty years, except for 1944-1946, when he trained as a pilot in the Army Air Corps.

He retired from the shipyard in 1970, then worked at Boeing as an electrican until retiring again in 1987.

Well known for his music, he started playing the drums professionally at the age of 8, and continued to play throughout his life. He especially loved the big band music of the 1940's. Music was a passion that made him many friends over the years.

He was a charter member of the St Luke's Methodist Church in Bremerton since 1958.
Surviving Dan are Louise, his wife of 59 years, of Bremerton; his sons, Dan and his wife Jane, of Seattle; Tom, and his wife Vicki, of Chandler, Arizona; Kenny and his wife, Paulette, of Seattle; daughter, Cheryl Niemann, of Bremerton.
Also surviving are his grandchildren; Kristin Stone, and husband Brion; Gavin Coulter, and wife Monica; Tawnia and Tammi Coulter; Tippi Mathison, and husband Rob; Patrece Molina; Dian Mohler; Kim Benge and husband Bob; Michaelangelo and Melissa Niemann.
His great grandchildren; Ronnie, Hailey, Zachary, Caitlin, Jocelyn, Winter, Mitchell and Aidan.

''GreatPapa Dan,'' He will always be remembered as the best dad, granddad, Scoutmaster, and Drummer that Bremerton, and points east, have ever been blessed with.

A Celebration of Dan's life will be August 6, 2002, at 1:00PM, St Luke's Methodist Church, 1547 Sheridan, Bremerton, Washington. Private inurnment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Silverdale, Washington, at a later date.
