Danial A. Dunlap Obituary (1959

Danial Aaron Dunlap, long time Keyport resident, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 in Keyport, WA at the age of 64. Dan is survived by his wife Carrie of Keyport, daughters Lonnell, Tessa (Tim), Daneahe (Alberto), mother Stella Dunlap, brother Dennis (Joy), nephew Michael (Heather), grandsons Colt, Elijah, and Max, granddaughters Alexandra and Aurora, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Dunlap, two sisters, Deborah and Delores, and a grandson Angelito. Dan was born in Bremerton, WA on November 24, 1959 to Gene and Stella (Munson) Dunlap. He attended North Kitsap schools in Poulsbo graduating in 1978. Dan went into the United States Air Force as a Crash Firefighter shortly after graduating. He was stationed in England and Louisiana. When Dan got out of the Air Force, he resided in Keyport. He went to work for the Department of the Navy as a First Responder/ EMT/ Rope Rescue Firefighter at Naval Base Keyport, Naval Station Bremerton and Naval Magazine Indian Island where he retired. Dan and Carrie, best friends in High School, were reunited and started dating about 2 years prior to their marriage on March 26, 1999. The couple made their home in Keyport where they raised three daughters. His family was very important to Dan and he was a devoted husband, supportive father and loving grandfather. He enjoyed meeting people and his outgoing personality attracted many friends. He will be greatly missed. Dan was involved with many organizations such as A Pirate's Life For Us, Renaissance Faires, and the Scottish Games. He loved the outdoors, camping, canoeing, and sharing stories and one line jokes. He was quick of wit. He had a Dunlap tartan kilt made in Scotland. He also collected many sets of armor and made his own chainmail. He liked to display and share the history of these sets of armor and the period weapons he had. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed going to the Scottish Games and Pirate events. Many of the events he went to were fundraising events gathering food for food banks, pet food and school supplies. Dan was civic oriented. His Motto was Always Be Prepared. Dan loved the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and he had a heart to share the love of Jesus with others. He once gave away a van to a woman who was in need of a car for her job and also bought tools for a youth group that was going on a mission trip to Mexico. Dan was a generous and giving person. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 1 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Keyport Bible Church Fellowship Hall with a reception to follow. Pastor Mike Chin will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dan's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kitsap Humane Society.
