Chuck Stuart Obituary (1918

Chuck Stuart passed away at the age of 86 in Bremerton, Washington on September 27, 2004. He was born on August 16, 1918 to Rufus D. and Martha E. (Dobson) Stuart and he graduated from Bremerton High School in 1936. He married Marie M. Pittman in Castle Rock, Washington on October 2, 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1935 to 1939 and then a second time from 1944 to 1945 when he was drafted and was a seaman first class. He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a rigger from 1940 to 1944 when he was drafted. After returning from the war in 1945, Chuck went back to the shipyard and worked there until his retirement in 1970 as a general foreman. Chuck liked to camp, travel, and spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also volunteered at Harrison Hospital and at Group Health in Silverdale. Chuck had a very strong faith in God which he passed onto his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bremerton (now known as Lincoln Avenue Bible Church). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert and Norman, and his son-in-law, Wayne Schmidt. Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Stuart and wife Barbara of Castle Rock, and Jim Stuart and wife Patti of Bremerton; two daughters, Dorothy Killian and husband Jim of Port Orchard and Beth Schmidt of Bremerton; his "Honorary son" Joe Vlach and his wife Cheri of POulsbo; 10 grandchildren, Eric, Kevin, David, Lori, Carrie, Amy, Ron, Janie, Jennifer and Allison; 12 great grandchildren as well as 2 more on the way.
