Celestine Bernhardt Obituary (1924

Celestine "Sally" Bernhardt passed away on Mar. 12, 2011 at the age of 87. Sally was born to Joseph & Bertha (Vareberg) Lange on Feb. 4, 1924, in Max, North Dakota. She graduated from High School in Oak Harbor, WA in 1942 & married Edward C. Wicka on June 1, 1943. Her beloved Edward passed away on June 24, 1966. She later went on to marry Tom Bernhardt in 1970. They traveled to several countries & enjoyed their many destinations. Sally enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, Mariners baseball & Seahawks football. Sally was preceded in death by her husband's, Edward & Tom, her parents, & sisters Helen Eerkes, Elizabeth Lange & brother, Leonard Lange. Treasuring her memory are daughter, Renee Stryken, Canada; brothers, Bernard (Mary) Lange, Oak Harbor, WA & Richard Lange, Seattle, WA; Nephew, Aaron (Mary) Eerkes, Portland, OR; Grandson, William Stryken, Wasilla, AK and 3 great-grandchildren, William, Asa & Phoenix Stryken. Viewing will be held on Wed., Mar. 16, 2011 from 10am-5pm at Lewis Funeral Chapel. There will be a Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Thurs., Mar. 17 at 1:30pm. Interment will take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor, WA on Mar. 18, 2011 at 12:30pm. Special thanks to Peggy Walker, Dr. P. Sharma and Dr. Reimer for their compassionate care.
