Bayani Fronda Esendencia Obituary (1949

On 17 Dec 2020, Bayani F. Esendencia departed this world. Born on 27 Dec 1949 in Cavite City, Philippines, he was born into what would become a large family. Being one of ten children, he grew up like many Filipinos, wanting to help support his family and hoping for a better life. The chance finally came in May 1974 when he passed all the tests to be able to join the United States Navy. From that point forward, a new and exciting chapter in his life would begin. Two years after joining the US Navy, he found himself in Scotland where he would unknowingly meet his future bride, Veren. In Jan 1977, through a friend's wedding they first met, but soon started talking everyday. Immediately knowing that she was the one, in March of the same year he proposed. Then in Sep 1977, they officially tied the knot to become husband and wife. The newest chapter had started, being a family man. With his new wife now by his side, the US Navy continued to take them to new places around the US. His life was now improving, he was giving back to his family in the Philippines, and in Jan 1979 he would have his first child, Bryant. Then while stationed in California, he would have his second child, Sheryl in Feb 1984. With a family now in tow and his Navy career now in full swing, he was hand selected to become a Company Commander in Great Lakes, Illinois. His new task was to indoctrinate all new recruits into the Navy way of life while simultaneously raising two children to always be excited about the world and care for a loving wife. With the chapter now complete, his next stop was Guam to be on the USS Proteus. During his time there, he would serve during the Gulf War and achieve the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His final duty location was upon him. He would take his family to Washington State where he would retire after 21 years of military service. But of course life was not done yet! He would start working at the local naval shipyard. He would put his son through college and give him his first salute as a United States Air Force officer. He would put his daughter through college and see her become a fashion designer at Tommy Bahama. He would then give his daughter's hand in marriage and also see his son get married. He would be there to support the four grandchildren he now had. He would get involved in the local Filipino American club. He would attend his annual high school reunion wherever it would be. He would travel to Japan and the Philippines regularly. Wherever he went, whatever he did, he would always find ways to put a smile on a person's face. After 22 years at the naval shipyard, it was time for him to retire again. His time was now truly his time to do as he wished. He would continue to travel with his wife. He decided he would tackle gardening. He would do home renovations for himself and his son. He would take his wife shopping anytime she wanted. He would babysit his grandchildren at a moment's notice. He would do anything to put a smile on his family's face. He would do this until his last day. He is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita, father, Zacarias and sister, Corazon. He is survived by his loving wife, Veren, his son, Bryant (wife Erica, kids Penelope and Giovanni), his daughter, Sheryl (husband Jason, kids Hudson and Luca) and his brothers, Armando and Hernan, and his sisters Zenaida, Lorrie, Elisa, Sally, Letti, and Norma. Through all his failures and all his successes, through all his fighting and all his loving, through all his crying and all his laughing, through all his pain and all his joy, he was the perfect person and truly invincible until the very last moments of his life. We love and miss you so much. We will be excited when we can see you again . . . .
