Avis Marcella (Corso) Lampe Obituary (1918

Avis Marcella (Corso) Lampe, age 95, passed away peacefully in Poulsbo, May 4th, 2014. Avis was born October 26, 1918 in Cane Hill, Arkansas to James and Winifred Mourning. Avis enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and cooking especially for family and friends. She was a warm and caring person and was known to many as "Grandma Marcy"; she was also known to many as someone who didn't mince words but told it "like it was". Avis is survived by her son, James L. Corso (Deborah); five grandchildren, James S. Corso, Tammy E. Corso of Poulsbo, Jerry C. Corso (Angelina), Carter W. Macdonald (Joanna) of Seattle and Kristine M. Lopez (Fred) of New York. She has three great-grandchildren, Jeramy Corso, Josh Corso, and Jarad Corso, all of Poulsbo. She is also survived by her sisters, Bettye J. Dryden of Bremerton and Peggy A. Hodges of Arkansas. Avis has many nieces and nephews; Sharon J. McMahan lives nearby in Tacoma. She had many friends, but held a special place in her heart for Ron Barrington, Betty J. Friewald and Debbie McGarr and Family. Avis was preceded in death by her parents, James and Winifred Mourning; brothers, Jack, James and Dale (Tuffy) Mourning; sisters, Reva M. Moore, Margie J. Woodard, and Wilma I. George. Services will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 12th at 1:00pm with a reception to follow. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
