Arty Virgil Conley Obituary (1924

Arty Virgil Cameron, at the age of 78, died at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington after a long illness on April 12, 2003. Arty was born in Cameron, West Virginia on December 13, 1924 to Everett and Edith (Gibbons) Conley. Arty srved in the united States Air Force from 1948 until until 1952. After the service he moved to Bremerton, Washington and remained in the area for over 51 years. He worked in Kent, Washington as a laborer for the Burlington Northern Railroad for over 22 years. as what was known as a ''Gandy Dancer''. He laid rails by hand and was amazed at the new process whereby the rails were done by machinery. He loved to talk railroading. When asked a question about the rails he would have a story to tell. He love to travel in the State of Washington, driving and touring and seeing the country side. He was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Conley. He is survived by his Companion, Corma Anderson, of Port Orchard, Washington. His son: Arty J. Conley, of Port Orchard, Washington. His daughter: Patricia Gosline, of Hoquim, Washington. His remaining brother, Bruce Conley of Martinsburg, West Virginia. His sister: Hazel McCaardle, ofMoundsville, West Virginia. His 7 grandchildren and his 11 great grandchildren.
