Arna Lee Wang Souza Obituary (1946

Arna Lee Wang Souza, age 67 of Bremerton, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 after a courageous fourteen year battle with cancer. Arna was born February 12, 1946 in Bremerton and was the eldest of two children born to Myrtle and Arnold Wang. She graduated from East High in 1964 and the following year married Charles Reasons in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. In 1969 she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a BA in French and Mathematics. The following year, while attending graduate school at Washington State University in Pullman, she gave birth to her first son Tad. Nearly five years later, with her husband teaching at the University of Alberta in Calgary, her second son, Trent, was born. Arna moved back home to the Bremerton area in 1977 to begin her career in education. Over the next two decades Arna taught Trigonometry and Sociology at North Kitsap High School, eventually chairing the Mathematics Department. Arna loved to be involved in both the academic and social development of her students, often leading the organization of annual dances and socials. She also held adjunct teaching positions for graduate programs at the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University. Despite suffering through years of chemotherapy and a litany of painful treatments and surgeries, she always found the strength to tutor students and encouraged them to be the best they could be. Arna had a tremendous passion for Jesus Christ and would unashamedly share her love of the Lord with everyone. Her testimony was powerful and she made a difference by being a "light of the Lord" to the lives around her. She loved random acts of public dancing, attending concerts, baseball games, arts events, swimming and needlepoint. Arna also enjoyed traveling, eventually making it to multiple destinations on four continents. The love of Arna's life was her family and she would often brag about her children and grandchildren to any and all. She liked to say that her sons and grandchildren were her "raison d'etre". Reason for living!!!! Arna is survived by her youngest son, Trent Reasons, his wife Casey, granddaughters Cana and Tola as well as grandsons Trent and Credan. She is also survived by her eldest son Tad Reasons, his wife Stephanie, granddaughters Lexie, Katia, Talia as well as grandsons Cole and Tad. In addition she is survived by her devoted sister Myrna and her husband Doug Wagner. There will be a memorial service at 3pm on Sunday April 7th at the Silverdale United Methodist Church.
