Andrew "Hap" van Valer Obituary (1911

Hap vanValer, 95, of Kingston passed away on May 5. He was born on Oct. 15, 1911, in San Jose, CA, to Andrew vanValer and Birdie (Collins) vanValer. Hap attended high school in CA. Mr. vanValer is preceded in death by his parents; son, Voughn; and many brothers and sisters. Hap served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Seaman 1st Class. Mr. vanValer worked as a restaurant owner in CA, the US Air Force, and retired from Aerospace General. During his many careers, Hap always had a joy and passion for Arabian horses, horse training and teaching children to ride horses. He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Owen and Alice Starkie, both of CA; daughter-in-law, Cindy vanValer of AK; friends, Jack Nelson and Jeanette; and many other friends.
