Amerylis Mercer Obituary (1918

Amerylis entered into rest at Marine Courte where she'd lived her last year. She was born in Seattle to Peter T. and Ruth Elizabeth Anderson. Amerylis lived in Chehalis until her father's death. Her mother bought a photography studio and moved the family to Prosser, where she graduated from high school. This is where she met and married Elwood Mercer in 1937. He preceded her in death in 2004. The couple spent several years in Prosser before moving to Seattle, then Bremerton, where Elwood worked as an electrician in the power plant at PSNS. Amerylis worked for several years as a beautician before buying Cinderella Beauty School, where she taught for many more years, until she and Elwood retired and began traveling all over the US in their 5th wheeler. Amerylis loved to read books of all kinds but especially English History stories. She loved to sew, and did massive work in genealogy for both sides of the family. She was a past guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel #20 in Bremerton and a member of Olympic Chapter OES, having just received her 50-year pin last year. She was a wonderful mother and will be missed more than words can say by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Henderson of Bremerton; son, Mark Mercer (Doni) of Port Orchard; grandchildren, Tiffany Timar, Darren Henderson (Vanessa), Cameron Mercer, Ian Mercer, and Breanna Binder; and great-granddaughter Sierra Timar. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters, Sue and Eula; and nephew, Ernie Knowles. A memorial service will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel on Thurs, May 20, 2010 at 3:30 pm.
