Almeda Van Woert Harris Wilson Obituary (1914

Almeda Van Woert Harris Wilson, 101, was born in a homestead house in Silver Creek, WA on January 6, 1914 and passed away September 5, 2015. The youngest of five siblings born to John Henry and Edna Van Woert, Almeda grew up in Silver Creek, WA, graduated from Mossyrock, WA High School and earned an associate degree in business from Los Angeles City College. Almeda married Robert L. (Bob) Harris in 1935 and returned to Kitsao County in 1940. After Bob Harris' death in 1977, she married Frank Wilson who passed away in 2013. In 1962, Almeda started, and then ran, the Kitsap County Humane Society for the next 20 years, retiring in 1982. Almeda is survived by her son, Dennis Harris (Karen) of Bremerton; four grandchildren, Jennifer of Spokane, Eric of southern California, Tracy of Seattle, and Jason of Bremerton; and seven great-grandchildren. No services will be held; however, interment will be at the family plot at Salkum Cemetery in Salkum, WA. Any donations to her memory she would like made to the Kitsap County Humane Society.
